They are available covered in fabric from The Dormy House Collection or you can send your own fabric for us to use*.
*When sending your own fabric please note that the fabric must be lightweight; silk, light cotton, or a light linen weight. If you are unsure please send us a cutting for approval.
What size shade is best for my base?
We often are asked what size of shade is best for our base, well in our opinion there are no hard and fast rules – most importantly go with what you love and you won’t be wrong.
Worth noting that a perfectly fitting shade should hide the bulb holder underneath and not intrude on the lamp base itself.
A general guide to working out the size of shade you require is to measure the height of your table lamp from the bottom of the base to the top of the lamp stem just below the lamp holder. The shade you select should then have a diameter of plus or minus 5cm of this measured height. So, if you have a lamp that is 40cm tall, you should choose a shade that is 35 to 45cm wide.
Three useful tips:
The width of the lampshade (diameter at the bottom) should be roughly equal to the height of the lamp base.
The height of the lampshade should be about two-thirds the height of the lamp base.
The lampshade should be wider than the widest part of the lamp base.
